Breathe

Breathing is one of the best things that you can do when you start to feel frazzled. Focusing on your breath doesn’t just distract you from your troubles, but it also lowers your heart rate.

The higher your heart rate is, the more that your anxiety will increase. Although there are several different breathing techniques to try, the easiest is to deep breathe from your stomach.

Each time that you inhale raise your belly button and breathe out, lowering your belly button. Try this several times while simultaneously exhaling with puckered lips. After repeating this over and over, you’ll eventually start to feel calmer.

Avoid Caffeine

One of the worst things that you can do for stress is to take stimulants, like caffeine. Caffeine will increase your heart rate, and in many cases give you the jitters.

The idea is to bring your energy down rather than up. Instead of caffeine, opt for something like water or natural tea. You’ll be able to handle your challenges much better without so much stimulation.

Ask For Help

A lot of people are too proud to ask for help during times of stress. Perhaps they feel like they would be inconveniencing someone, or appear weak. However, you’d be surprised how many people are more than happy to help you if you only ask.

Some things weren’t meant to be endured alone. Asking a friend or family member to help you when you’re going through difficulties is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Chances are you’ll make it through your obstacles much faster with a little help.

Get Plenty Of Rest

Stress can inhibit sleep and lead to fatigue. Even though you may find yourself up at night staring at the ceiling, worrying about your problems, it’s critical that you get as much rest as possible.
